WELL MET – JEN DELUCA
Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him?
The faire is Simon’s family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn’t have time for Emily’s lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she’s in her revealing wench’s costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they’re portraying?
This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can’t seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.
OPINIÓN PERSONAL
Well met de Jen DeLuca me ha parecido muy tierno, los personajes son adorables y aunque Simon al principio es algo gruño y no sabes por donde cogerlo es un amor de personaje. El libro es fácil de leer y te engancha, todo el tema de Faire es muy divertido y diferente para una trama de este estilo, y también da más juego a los personajes para evolucionar de diferentes maneras y crear una conexión.
La trama sigue a Emily, quien después de la ruptura con su novio de 5 años, que básicamente la estaba utilizando, se va a vivir con su hermana mayor (con la que no tiene mucha relación al principio) y la hija de esta a un pueblo muy pequeño. Este pueblo es conocido por su feria renacentista que hacen en verano, y por una o por otras Emily se ve involucrada y tiene que participar en ella. Una vez allí conoce a Simon, el organizador de la feria, que muy simpático, no parece que sea, pero el pobre tiene motivos, y por una o por otras las circunstancias les llevan a pasar mucho tiempo juntos, e incluso a casarse de forma ficticia en un evento de la feria. Y bueno, Emily poco a poco se va sintiendo más en casa en este pueblecito y va encontrando su hueco en la comunidad, y finalmente con Simon.
La verdad, que es lo que os digo, Well Met es un libro que se hace muy ameno, que te saca una sonrisa de vez en cuando y que también te hace llorar. Las relaciones entre los personajes están muy bien construidas, y la relación principal también es entretenida de leer. Así que yo, lo he disfrutado mucho. No es un libro para tirar cohetes, pero es bonito de leer.
